A Look into Depth of a Vagina and Penis Size. Does Size Matter?

by | Dec 26, 2020 | Sex Education | 0 comments

We have all heard it before. The timeless question ‘does size matter?’ when speaking of sexual interaction. Each of us could indeed answer this question personally based on our own opinions and likings, and just as some would answer this question with a yes, there is probably an equal amount that would say no.

And although there are plenty of available routes for inducing pleasure, regardless of your penis size or vaginal depth, such as through the satisfying of personal kinks or the use of a riveting sex toy; this question will always remain asked.

But usually, when speaking on this topic, the genital of focus here is a penis, and whether or not it is large enough to pleasure the intricacy of the vagina with enough prowess to be deemed capable of inducing an orgasm. Those with a penis know this fear all too well, and it is one of the most intimidating of subjects to navigate throughout any lifetime of sexual interactions

Yet just as equally as those with a penis might think that size matters, so do those with a vagina!

Women often question what the vaginal depth is or if the size of their vagina makes a difference in both giving and receiving pleasure. And of course, what does this mean for sex?

Depth of a Vagina and Size.

Vaginas are quite the versatile and magic of organs. Tight enough to firmly grip a small finger, yet large enough to allow a child to pass through. Vaginas can constrict and expand when your body so calls for it, and because of this extreme range of potential sizes, answering the question of how big is a vagina can be slightly tricky.

Vaginas are made to change in size, and this size does alter after childbirth. So when looking at vaginal depth and determining an average vaginal depth for all women, it is best to measure those who have not yet had a baby.

The most widely acknowledged scientific study regarding vaginal depth comes from Masters and Johnson’s work done in the ’60s, and they were actually the ones who were able to calculate an average vaginal depth for women.

What is the depth of a vagina?

The depth of a vagina varies depending on your level of stimulation. So, just as a penis is pumped blood upon introduction of arousal and thus grown in size, a vagina is somewhat similar.

Pre-birth vaginal depths, when not under any form of stimulation, usually range between 2.75-3.25 inches.

When under stimulation, the increased blood flow to the vagina allows for relaxation of the cervix that then increases the vaginal depth to somewhere between 4.25-4.75”.

Although those are averages, all women are unique, and because of this, some vaginal depths may even reach up to 7-8” inches upon arousal.

To help with this stimulation, the clitoris also increases in size during sexual activity, and the mucosa of the vagina creates the natural lubricant that keeps you ‘wet’ not only so that sex can feel incredible, but more importantly to help increase the stretching of your vaginal depth to accommodate the size of a penis or a sex toy.

Does Vaginal Size Matter?

The honest answer is that the average penis size will usually fit perfectly into the average size of a stimulated vagina. Evolutionary wise, we are meant to reproduce, and because of this, our genitals are made for interaction.

If you have a larger vaginal depth than the average, no one will be able to tell the difference when having sex, and if anything you will simply be able to have fun with larger sex toys. So never worry about the larger size of your vagina should that be the case.

Although it might be slightly more difficult to reach your G-spot, you can easily make up for this with clitoral, nipple, and/or anal stimulation to help reach climax. A vibrator makes for a wonderful addition to your sex to increase stimulation during penetration if you need a little help in the right direction.

If your vaginal depth averages smaller, then you may just have to work on your communication with a partner so that sex can remain completely comfortable. If things are being pushed too deep, simply make it known so that you can work together to find comfortable levels of penetration for both.

To help with stimulation and increased depth, practice foreplay that really turns you on and naturally lubricates you. And it’s never a bad idea to use additional lubrication, as things only work and feel better this way! This will help relax your vaginal canal and lend for increased depth and comfort during insertion.

The honest truth is that you should just enjoy that it is easier to reach your pleasure zones, and your partner will love the fact that they can so effortlessly please you and provide you that leg shaking stimulation you seek, so never worry about your vaginal depth even if it feels small.

Does Penis Size Matter?

Just as all vaginas are unique, so is every penis, and because of such they of course vary widely in length.

Penis size averages anywhere from 5”-6” in, and although plenty of men are much smaller and much larger, there’s a good chance as a male you are within this range. Because of this, considering the average depth of stimulated vaginas, you quite literally don’t need anything more.

And even if your penis is on the lower end of this spectrum, with these averages that are still plenty to work with and provide pleasure.

So really no, size does not matter that much. But with that being said, some may simply prefer larger or smaller, and that comes down to personal preference and desires, not necessarily that actual ability to stimulate a vagina.

The key is to simply try and get to know your partner well so that, regardless of your size, you can understand how to make every inch of it count in conjunction with other pleasures (again, sex toys and clitoral play go a long way!) and satisfying kinks to provide an orgasm that relies not on the size of your penis.

Communication as a couple will allow you to both worry not about size, and simply enjoy the unique pleasures that each of you is able to offer one another through more intimate and meaningful stimulations.
