Staying home is probably your reality right now. Working from home, in bed, or on the couch, can be such a constant emotional battle. Right now, staying healthy, self-care and self-love are very important.
While you have more free time, make an effort to care more about your well-being. We’ve put together some key tips to keep your mood and spirits boosted, especially as we head into winter.
Start with your eating habits.
It’s easy to order in constantly and eat junk. However, in the long term you’re going to feel worse about yourself. You’re much less likely to be working out hard core during this time at home, so the healthier you eat, the better your body will look. Maintaining a healthy diet and well balanced nutritional plan will improve not only your weight and self-image, but your wellbeing as a whole. When your body feels good, so does your mind. Make it a point to grocery shop, and order better for you choices like salads, nutritionally dense, protein-loaded meals, and fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits and veggies.
Don’t live in your pajamas.
You probably don’t feel the motivation to get up and get dressed up right now. Working from home in our pajamas can be super comfy, but this also encourages the sloppy eating habits. Take time to wake up in the morning, take a shower, and get ready for work. Change into leggings and a nice top, but GET OUT of those pajamas! Presentability, even just for yourself, is a huge part of feeling good! You don’t have to be dressed to the nines, but you can absolutely dress better while still being comfortable.
Do your hair and makeup!
Listen, not blow drying your hair and saving time on putting makeup on your face are all great, but save that for lazy weekends. You have to keep your self image and esteem high, and you don’t want to get out of the habit of getting ready. Throw on a BB cream, some mascara, and blow dry your hair. Get a light routine together. This will also help make the weekends more special – you bring that enjoyable lazy factor back in!
Get out of the house.
Invest in a mobile hotspot if you can, and go work from a nice outdoor place. A change of scenery can truly change your motivation to work and bring your livelihood back. Fresh air is important to have a positive outlook and mindset. Even just taking a nice drive in the evening can relieve a lot of stress, and calm you down. A scenic stroll around your neighbourhood can also add to this.
Stay Active!
Go for a run, workout, get some weights and resistance bands for your home. Do you have a dog? Right now is a great time to go running or jogging with them! You can also look into fostering a dog, which benefits them and you! Find socially distanced workout groups, or do virtual yoga classes through Instagram Live or a platform like ClassPass.
Right now, the key to staying healthy and happy is to keep yourself focused, motivated, and on target with your goals. What have you been doing to stay positive and active?
