When planning your next getaway with your significant other, traveling with your favorite sex toy can be a really exciting experience to spice things up. However, before throwing that vibe in your bag, make sure that where you’re going doesn’t have strict laws regarding sexual aids!
We’re very fortunate to live in a country where you can purchase lube, condoms, dildos, and vibrators freely. On the other hand, not all countries allow these liberties. Bringing a sex toy in to a country where they are not allowed can have serious repercussions. Additionally, there are even places in the United States where sex toys are still considered illegal!
We’ve put together a list for you so you can be prepared for your next vacation.
Saudi Arabia
According to Islamic law, sex toys are considered pornographic material and are banned. If you are caught with one, your toy will be confiscated. You don’t want your favorite toy thrown away!
Following suit is the UAE (United Arab Emirates)
Sex toys are also banned here, and are illegal. Not only will your toy be confiscated, but you could possibly be prosecuted as well even though you didn’t know.
Thailand
Though Thailand has a very thriving sex tourism industry, sex toys fall under their list of prohibited goods. They are considered obscene objects, and will be confiscated.
Vietnam
In Vietnam, your toys will be confiscated by customs. However, they will return them when you are leaving the country. At least they’re not a lost cause, right?
Malaysia
In Malaysia, anyone who sells, possesses, or distributes obscene books or objects will be imprisoned for a term of up to three years. You may also be fined a monetary amount, or both. This still applies to tourists, and is scary to think about.
India
India’s laws are very similar to Malaysia’s. According to the Indian Penal Code, any book, drawing, figure or object, is deemed obscene if it fuels any lascivious, or overtly sexual thoughts and behaviours. Massagers that are phallic in shape are illegal. So essentially, that Magic Wand needs to stay home.
The Maldives
The Maldives is romantic, and a choice destination for your honey moon! However, pornographic material is prohibited, and that includes sex toys.
Indonesia
Sex toys are not formally prohibited, Indonesia’s vaguely worded anti-pornography law allows some interpretation, which means dildos and other items could be labeled pornographic. Bali is of course another top choice for honey moons, but don’t bring your toys with you!
To move to the US, we have one standout state.
Alabama
The sale of adult sex toys is criminalized. Sex toys are deemed as any device designed or marketed as usable to stimulate the genitals.
